Mini Electra Plasma Art Lamp
By Jessica Yamaguchi onWe bought this for my father in law. He is another grown man that is fascinated with toys and things that kids like (NO, hes not senile!)! I think its great! It makes gift buying for him easyI just pay attention to the things my husband likes (hes exactly the same as his Dad!) and BINGO! He loves it! This Plasma Lamp is one of those things! Before buying it, I watched BOTH my husband and my father in law staring at these Plasma lamps every time we got near one.
The Plasma lamp we ended buying for him has Buddha holding up a globe. It is approximately 16 inches tall. The globe is about the size of a cantaloupe. The Buddha/base is plastic and kind of bronze colored. When you turn it on, the globe glows blue and has neon blue lightening bolts that shoot around in it. The fun part is that when you touch the globe the lightening is attracted to your finger so it follows you.
The warnings on this lamp are to keep metal objects away from it.(I have pictures in my head oflightening bolts flying out of it and frying whatever is next to it! LOL)
And also it is NOT a toy so not recommended for children to be allowed to play with it.
I have to admit that I am fascinated with this thing as well! My father in law loves the one we got him! Shows it to all his grand kids (he has 16 of them!) and soit has become an expected part of a visit to Grandpas house!
Ok, we bought this at Wal-Mart for about $14.99. There are other designs. Dragons, plain black basewe just couldnt find anything else but the Buddha design when we went to buy it! Which was ok because for some reason thats the one my father in law really liked! I've seen these at Spencers at the mall and other stores as well. I think these are fun and make great gifts for anyone who is fascinated by this kind of thing.

I use to work at a store that sold incense and novelty items. We had similar plasma lamps, and people were mesmerized by them!
Very cute and a conversation piece besides lighting
Good Morning jessie. Of course I am interested in this Gadget. I used to own one that had purple bolts and the neighborhood children thought i was a wizard. I am known as the PokerSorcerer, Marble Wizard, WebWizard, Warlock, and BlackEagleWarrior around the globe, so you can imagine the gadget I have. Yes, becareful about the metal objects. It won't be a big BOLT coming through, actually, it will just destroy the machine itself. Good find, I never realised that the Blue ones were so cool. I love Wizard stuff. Nice Magical Ball.
I like this glowing globe, it looks very unusual.
