Minn Kota 5 Speed With Reverse Trolling Motor By cnt24 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
We purchased a Minn Kota Endura Trolling Motor for our Jon boat for fishing. This Motor is powered by battery, has a manual tilt and trim, is height adjustable, and folds upright out of the way for normal boating operation.
We love this Minn Kota Endura! The operation is quiet, almost silent, and runs smoothly. The power is sufficient to push our Jon boat, and hold it steady, in flowing river water-up and down river.
What We Like:
The unit is adjustable for the height of different transoms
You have speed options and reverse operation
The shaft flexes should you run aground or hit a stump to protect the prop and skeg
At the right height setting, you can almost maneuver it 360 degrees
It's so quiet the fish can't hear you coming
With the proper battery and charge you can get up to 5 hours of trolling in
Should we ever purchase a larger Jon boat this Minn Kota has a foot pedal operation option. It's upgradeable!
What We Dislike:
The tilt and trim is set with screw latches that bear down on the transom and mar the paint
When in trailer position, the unit feels loose. It bounces a lot and looks as if the lock latch may give at any moment.
Given the dislikes, we opt not to trailer our Jon boat with our Minn Kota installed. Overall we are very pleased with this motor.
