Moisturize That Dry Mouth By Cyn Bagley on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
At my last dental hygienist visit, my hygienist was not happy with the plaque on my teeth, especially since it had only been four months since my last cleaning. She suggested that I had a dry mouth. I never had a dry mouth before. But, because I am getting edema from some of my medications, my doctor had prescribed diuretics.
One of the diuretic's side effects is "dry mouth."
So my hygienist after our conversation about dental care (I have problems sticking anything close to my back teeth), she suggested that I try one of these dry mouth moisterizers. According to her, part of my plaque problem was caused by my dry mouth. Also, she suggested that I rinse my mouth often and drink more water.
On the biotene box it claims "contains natural enzymes to inhibit causing bacteria growth." Bacteria growth is another problem caused by dry mouth. You can tell you have this problem if you look at your tongue. white, green, or black growth is bad. A clean pink tongue is good.
Also, my hygienist suggested that I clean my tongue to get rid of the bacterial growth.
After using the biotene gel, I saw less bacteria and plaque in my mouth. My mouth felt fresher and my teeth were smoother. If you are interested in using this gel, you can find out more of the ingredients from this url http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=304206&navAction=jump&navCount=1&skuid=sku302125&id=prod2125
Or you can go to Walgreens at www.walgreen.com and search for this gel. There is a very good description of the product.
