Moonlight Beach By Sparkle333 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My favorite artwork in our home is by a local, incredibly talented painter, Zoltan Steiner. Living in Florida, artists that paint ocean scenes are a dime a dozen. But Steiner's work is one of a kind. The thing that impresses me the most, is his ability to make the water look wet. He can capture the reflection of light in a puddle, so that it looks incredibly real.
The painting that is my favorite hangs in our bedroom, with a spotlight directed on it. It is a scene of the ocean at night. The angle of the picture is just like you are walking up the beach. In fact, it feels like you could just walk into the picture. There is a full moon in the night sky, along with several low flying seagulls. The ocean waves are breaking on the shore, and you can see the foam and white caps.
The sugar white dunes (which Northwest Florida is famous for) are to the right of the picture, with delicate sea oats, bending in the gentle breeze. The colors in the picture are various shades of blues, white, and the greenish-gold sea oats.
I never get tired of looking at this peaceful, beautifully painted picture. We have two other Zoltan Steiner paintings in our home, which will be treasured heirlooms.
