The Mothman Prophecies is a film that tells the tale of a reporter, played by Richard Gere, who is involved in a car accident with his wife (Debra Messing). As she is recovering in the hospital, she mentions seeing a moth. Gere then learns about a town in Wet Virginia where the inhabitants are seeing the same winged creature, and travels there to investigate.

While this movie has an intriguing premise, I feel that it falls a bit flat in its delivery of it. The plot was slow and the screen was constantly filled with dark, hard to see scenes. The mothlike creature is not a main player in the movie, as it is mostly seen in drawings and only quickly on screen. There are some moments of tension, which definitely adds to the movie, but due to the lack of plot it isn't enough to save the film from certain boredom.
