Motivation In The Workplace Chicken Soup By Bosoxy on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I have a passion for business. One of the things that I believe is that harsh treatment of employees is absolutely not the way to run a business. I cannot find any reason that would lead me to believe that employees who fear their bosses work harder than those who love them… or at least respect them.
Chicken Soup for the Soul at Work is a book that wholeheartedly shows time and time again how dedication at work is linked to the dedication of businesses and bosses to their employees. In fact, the very first story in the book relates how a single mom working a new part time job was shown compassion and love by her new boss, which lead this employee to stay on at that job and eventually become a manager herself.
I get all choked up just thinking about it….
Call me a sap, if you will, but these Chicken Soup stories at work are no less tear jerkers than other editions in the Chicken Soup series.
The sections of the book are as follows:
Love At Work
On Caring
The Power of Acknowledgement
Service: Setting New Standards
Follow Your Heart
Creativity at Work
Overcoming Obstacles
On Courage
Lessons & Insights
I would say that the majority of the book is going to appeal to those who work in management. While I think that there is something for everyone, the motivational factor is aimed at those who make the decisions/train and retain employees.
As with all books in the Chicken Soup series, the motivational stories are real first hand accounts of inspiring events. There are a very good variety of business types in the book… however you do not need to find storeis that pertain to your chosen field to get anything out of the stories as the general base of these retold events could have occurred just about anywhere….
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is in or is interested in any sort of management. If you give it as a gift, do include a pack of tissues!
