Motorola Q9m By Halah on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My boyfriend bought this phone for himself right after coming home from Iraq. In the 15 months he was gone, cell phones had really made a lot of progress. I have yet to own a smart phone, but this one will likely be my first. Aside from my personal hangups about Windows, which may keep me holding out for a phone with a Unix based OS.

The Q9m is not a flashy phone. It does not have a touch screen and it is priced fairly. This is a solid cell phone, however, that seems like it could take a bit of abuse. If you're tough on phones and need to a smart phone, this is the one I would recommend. The Q9m model has a music player and uses Windows Media Player 10 mobile. It's ultra thin and pretty light. There is a qwerty keyboard. It allows creation and sending (via email or Bluetooth) of MS office documents. The music player function allows full Mp3 ring-tones to be applied. It has a few decent games, 64MB of memory and a mini-SD slot, speech recognition, 1.3 mp camera/video capture, and a USB port.

This smart phone has all the necessary features and a few extras to boot. It is available in a fashionable black and red color combination if you don't like plain phones. It's talk time is fantastic. The usage time is listed at VerizonWireless.com as 273 minutes, but I've found 3 hours to be more like it - less if you're using a Bluetooth headset. Overall, this is a great phone with super features at the perfect price.

Halah, this sounds like a good reliable Smartphone. It has many of the features of pricier brands without their heftier price tag. Generally I've had good luck with Motorola phones.
