Motrin Seemed To Work Fairly Well By Joan Young on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I've been taking these for dental pain and they have helped, but weren't able to completely overcome the pain.
I've been having a lot of overdue dental work done. This has involved an extraction, fillings, fitting two teeth with crowns, and trying to make my present partial plate fit over all these changed teeth to last just until a new plate can be made. I think the worst is now past, but the week that the dentist changed all four teeth that the partial plate fasten to and then crammed the plate back in and sent me home was pretty rough.
Both the dentist and the pharmacist said that ibuprofen was the drug of choice for dental pain, so I bought Motrin. These are 200 mg caplets. They are small, flattened, orange, oval pills. Their size makes them easy to take and they have a smooth coating.
I hardly ever take anything like this, so I really expected that it would do the job. Most of the time I took one at a time. A few times I took two at a time. It reduced the pain quite a bit, but never made it completely go away.
I'm honestly rather underwhelmed, but it did help some.

Glad these eased things somewhat for you - you're a trooper!
I get frequent headaches and Motrin is the pain reliever I ALWAYS turn to.
In order for ibuprofen to effectively eliminate pain, you need at least 400-800 mg-the standard prescription dosages. I'm surprised he didn't prescribe it or recommend you simply take 400 mg.
