Movie, The Secret Life Of Bees By Ally on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

Ok, first let me say I reallyenjoyed the novel that this movie was based on. In fact I have previously posted a review about it. The movie was amazing as well. I probably would have switched the cast around a little but that is because I had the faces of who was who all wrong in my head when I read the book. The movie is 110 minuets long, and rated PG-13. It has an all star cast with Queen Latifa, Alicia Keys, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Hudson, and Dakota Fanning (who looks so grown up in this movie). It was really nice to see the novel come to life. The best part was the movie stuck to the novel. They did not change a thing. This movie is a great window into the past. You see how hard it really was for African Americans before the end of segregation and after they finally got the right ot vote. You see a little girl who did not see color when she loved, and who could not understand why people did. I love how strong all of the women are in this film. Even the empathetic May who cries whenever there is heartahce for anyone in the world. Still she is strong to me because she wants to carry it all for human kind. Such a great film. I am glad I purchased this DVD.
