Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0 By kman63 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Mozilla, the famed distributor of the web browser Firefox, has a new and improved version of Thunderbird, an e-mail client. I find it to be a great alternative to Outlook or online, in-browser e-mail clients. Download takes only seconds, and setup and installation is quick and easy. Thunderbird is very secure, and claims to use "government level security features" to protect your private data as it is transmitted across the internet. The latest versions now include spam filtering. It offers support for all types of mail servers, including POP, IMAP, and SMTP. Thunderbird offers all the features you would expect out of an e-mail client, including custom folders for email accounts and access to newsgroups. Just like Firefox, various extensions can be added to Thunderbird using Mozilla's add-ons site. There are also a few themes available to change the look. Overall, my main reason for using Thunderbird over other e-mail clients is because of security. They are very reputable in that area, and it is very important that my personal information is protected.
