Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Maker By Jeff Reaves By Jeff Reaves on - Updated Sep 26, 2011

Tea is possibly my favorite beverage. Most of the time when I go out to eat, I usually purchase sweet tea. I make at least 2 quarts of tea at home for myself at least once a week. Since I drink so much tea, I thought it only made since to purchase a Tea Maker. I went with the Mr. Coffee brand because it is a popular brand and it was a great price. The tea maker comes with a pitcher for making upto 3 quarts of tea. One complaint I have about the pitcher is that it is not dishwasher safe as it states on the bottom of the pitcher. You would think most any product such as this would be made so that it could be place in the dishwasher.

As for the Ice Tea Maker itself, I do like how simple it is to use. It has a brew basket similiar to a coffeemaker where you can either add tea bags or a filter and loose tea. It states in the manual that you can add the sugar and sliced lemon in the filter but I would not suggest it. I tried this and the sugar did not completely dissolve. You add 1-3 quarts of water into the maker. There is a small opening on the tea maker where you place the spout of the pitcher. This is where the tea will flow from the maker to the pitcher. The Tea Maker also has a steeping control lever which allows you to adjust the brew strength of your tea. One feature that I like is that the tea maker automatically shuts off once the brewing cycle is complete.

Now for the most important thing about the tea maker is just how good does it make your tea taste? I have only used it three times so I am hoping it will get better the more I use it and maybe tweak the strength but at this point it taste OK but I still prefer to prepare my tea on top of the stove.

Got one of these when they first came out waaay back in the early 90's. Used it like a bad excuse for 7 or 8 years, I think it finally escaped with a past roommate or girlfriend. Great product. Good write!
