Mueller Sport Care Hinged Knee Brace By Beth Benson on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Mueller Sport Care Maximum Support Hinged Knee Brace contains patented aluminum tri-axial hinges that helps to mimic the natural motions of your knee making this knee brace the ultimate brace for weak or injured knees, but with a few problems. The brace doesn't support the entire knee, but only the kneecap. There is a patella buttress in the front of the brace that stabilizes the kneecap and there are two front adjustable straps that can be used to custom fit the brace.

The back of the brace however is open with two Velcro flaps to adjust the tightness, after tightening the open gap still remains and after tightening the flaps, the Velcro irritates you skin and causes the brace to bunch up behind the knee, making it very uncomfortable to bend your knee without getting stabbed by the harsh part of the Velcro or the bunching up of the brace.

The brace is extremely hard to put on because of the lack of stability that comes with the braces that slide on and adjust, since you have to custom fit the tightness, sometimes it is looser than needed for the strength and support you are looking for.

The brace comes in two sizes: Regular fit which fits a knee 14.5 to 17 inches and the Larger fit which fits a knee 17 to 19 inches. But I'd like to warn you, I'm 5 foot 3 and weigh 150 pounds and Regular fit just doesn't work.

The Mueller Sport Care Maximum Support Hinged Knee Brace can be found at your local Wal-Mart for $20.
