My Experience With A Panasonic Digital Camera By angelwings24 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I like photography. It is one of my hobbies and part of my job too so a digital camera is a very important instrument for me. The Panasonic DMC-LS1 is my first digital camera that my father bought for me. I liked it at first because it uses the Lumix brand for its lenses. It is lightweight and easy to carry. It is quite durable too. But that's where the advantages of the 4.0 mega pixel Panasonic DMC-LS1 end.

I certainly will not buy another digital camera with the same brand. For one, it is not user friendly. I have experienced handling other digital cameras but this one is a bit difficult than most of the cameras that I have used. I get the same feedback from my friends whenever I let them use this camera. My father who has no experience with digital cameras finds it even more difficult to use the camera and navigate around its menus which should not be the case. Another feature that is lacking in this camera is having a viewfinder. Most digital cameras have viewfinders aside from the standard LCD screen but the Panasonic DMC-LS1 does not have one. A viewfinder is an integral part of a camera whether it is digital or manual. Not having a viewfinder greatly decreases the functionality of this camera. If you decide to turn off the LCD screen to save on battery power, you can no longer take any shots because there is no viewfinder. I also don't like the resolution of the images taken no matter how I adjust the settings. Cellular phones with still camera features have better resolution despite having lower mega pixels setting.

Wow, if the pics from a phone are better than this sure isn't a great product. Thanks for the good info, but sorry you had to get it for us!

Thanks for the information. I have never been a fan of Panasonic and now I know to stay away from their cameras. Thanks.

I would go nuts without a viewfinder - I still prefer using that. And the poor quality is unfortunate.

What were they thinking not having a viewfinder? I hope you can get another, better digital camera soon, especially since you use it for your job.

This is yet another unfortunate example of an also ran in the marketplace. Panasonic evidently, in its desire to grab market share, developed a poorly thought out digital camera. And consumers such as yourself suffer the repercussions. Thank you for sharing a highly disappointing experience here.
