My Favorite U2 Cd Achtung Baby By nightwing on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This is my absolute favorite disc from the band. At the time it was released it was a big shock to fans as the sound is very different from their previous albums. Listening to it now, it still sounds strikingly original and risky.

The beautiful ballads One and Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses are both strong points on the album. While One has more of a classic sound to it, Horses has the loud guitars on it that permeate the majority of the album.

The loud guitars are front and center on the songs Zoo Station and Mysterious Ways. In the first song Zoo Station there is plenty of distortion as the heavy song introduces us to the sound of the album. Mysterious Ways has more of an upbeat dance quality to the song.

All of the songs here are first-rate and it's great fun to listen to the band step out of their comfort zone and come up with such a strong and successful collection.
