My Maruti 800 By phalgun on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
When I think about a car the first thing that comes to my mind is my own personal Maruti 800 AC. It is a time tested car that has adopted itself to Indian road conditions and pockets of the Indian middle class as far as maintenance cost is concerned. Though in 1980s the class of car such as maruti was enjoying monopoly and government patronage since it was a government company that was producing the car, owing to lack of competition there were no comparable product to face Maruti 800 lest there would have been a few other brands of small cars roaming on Indian roads. Even after the policy changes brought about by the Government in the automobile sector the survey conducted by many a world players misleadingly porojected the demand for small cars in India, as a result the new entrants in the car segment started manufacturing luxury cars only and utterly neglected required focus on manufacture of small cars. Maruti Suzuki is the only company that looked after the need of the middle class and continued to manufacture Maruti 800 which is considered to be the largest selling model from the Maruti stable. I truely love my Maruti 800 car which is giving me immense service and I would never switch my loyalty from my maruti 800 - a truely comman man's car. I appeal to Maruti Suzuki not to discontinue manufacturing Maruti 800 models instead keep upgrading it and provide a truely viable and maintainable small car to the Indian public.
