My One and Only Attempt at a Singles Trip

After the end of my first marriage, I had about three years of being single. A friend of mine talked me into going on a river boat singles cruise on the Ohio River. It was only from Marietta to Cincinnati, and was to be 4 days and three nights trip. There was to be several stops along the way, where other activities were suppose to be happening. The boat would dock long enough for us to take historic tours, or visit a place for dancing and drinking off the boat.
Well, the trip started off badly because my friend got sick, and then the trip got even worse. There were three guys to every girl.Well, if you have that many guys and not so many girls you can just about imagine the chaos.
The people who rented the riverboat for this singles vacation did not know what they were doing. The security was limited and many women and some guys demanded their money back because they were robbed.
There was limited activities; those that were available were way over priced; and the food was terrible.
It didn't take very long before everyone was getting upset and were letting their frustrations out on the staff.I think most of the people on the boat were irate.There were even a couple of attorneys on the boat who we walking around taking names and numbers to pursue possible law suits.This was not good for these people at all. The people who put this thing together had no choice but to give everyone their money back if they wanted to avoid the risk of being sued or killed.
If this had been a regular riverboat cruise run by the riverboat company or the historical societies along the Ohio river, it would have been great.I loved the boat, the Ohio river, and view from the decks, but everything else was a disaster.
We left after the first the day, and had no trouble getting our money back for the trip.
This still remians to be my biggest vacation nightmare.

what a nightmare! From the sounds of it you were being very nice in giving them a 2 for a rating!
Yeah that sounds pretty bad. Did you give them the 2 for not sinking? I thought you might have just been being nice.
OUCH Becky! Since I'm a recent widow, I've been checking on singles type vacations and am kind of lost!! One cruise said it had ummm cabin crawls every night???? I don't want anything crawling in my cabin thank you:)
Wow...3 guys to every girl?! I would be so scared, especially if everyone was getting robbed like you said. Thank goodness you got your money back and only had to suffer through one day of the trip. Sorry to hear you had such a nightmare when being single is supposed to be fun!

Sounds like a horrible experience for you. I'm glad you were able to get your money back. How funny about those lawyers taking names and numbers too! They must have been really mad!
Oh Becky-this trip sounded like it was a nightmare from the start! I'm glad you were able to get your money back & I hope you & your friend went on another trip!!
