When my daughter first heard about My Twinn dolls, she begged us to get her one. We thought it was a really cool idea and since it was the only big thing she asked for that Christmas, Santa brought her one.
My Twinn Dolls are custom made dolls designed to look like the child they are for, hence the name MY Twinn. To create a doll, you go through a series of steps to pick features that most match the child so the doll can look as close to that child as possible. You select skin tone, eye color, hair color, hair style and hair texture. There is even a section where you can request hand painted additions like moles and freckles. When you place your order, you also include a picture of the child so that the people who are creating that doll, can look at it while they are creating that child's doll. My Twinn dolls stand 23 inches tall and are fully poseable.
These dolls are not cheap. The price for a doll runs $139.00 which includes personalization and a special My Twinn outfit. In addition to the dolls, the My Twinn company also sells clothing and accessories so that the child and the doll can match even more. Many of the outfits you can purchase for the doll are also available in girls sizes ranging from xs-xxl.
While the doll we got was not an exact match to my daughter, I must say it was pretty close. When you order the doll be prepared to wait 6-8 weeks for the custom made doll to arrive. When we bought this doll, we also purchased a few of the matching outfits as well. They were very good quality and lasted well with repeated washings. The doll has had many hours of play times, hair styles and sleep overs and still looks great with only some wear showing in her hair.
If your doll ever breaks or needs to be updated to grow with the child, you can send it to the doll hospital. Prices and services vary but it can be something as simple as shampoo and hair combing to a complete doll restoration package.
My daughter and her Twinn have spent many special hours together. My daughter is now a teen but her doll still has a special spot in her room. One day, I hope she is able to pass her Twinn down to her daughter to play with.

When I was a child I had a doll that had a cloth face with a photo of my face printed on it. My grandmother found somewhere to have it made.

I always wanted to give my girls one of these but never really had the money. I think these dolls are too cool.
These must be based on an old old French dollmaking company that specialized in creating twin dolls for the nobilities children. It is a unique concept, though very expensive. I'd only buy this for a child who would truly care for it and understand its value.
My 7 year old daughter has had her My Twinn for 2 years and plays with it all the time. The doll looks EXACTLY like her....right down to the tiny beauty marks they both have on their right cheek!

I never owned one of these dolls but have seen many that belonged to friends they seem to be very well made.
