Napoleon Dynamite By buckeyefan on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This movie has all the right makings to earn it a top spot in the cult classic genre. Napoleon Dynamite is completely original, and has it all- just the right amount of quirkiness to make the characters hilarious and yet lovable at the same time. Plus, it has huge doses of one-liners that you can hear repeated over and over again in any high school hallway.

The movie stars Jon Heder in his debut role, and Napoleon Dynamite has really opened doors for him. The movie is named for the main character- it is him in everyday life, and about how he interacts with his eccentric friends Deb and Pedro, and with his brother, Kip.

This movie is really funny, but at the same time a bit nostalgic- if you were a child of the 80's, you will certainly recognize many of the props that are found in this movie, from Trapper Keepers, to moon boots, to Caboodles, and even the side pony-tails. There are a lot of references to decades past, but there are also current items too, which keep the actual setting a bit of a blur in this movie, which I thought was a nice touch.

Napoleon Dynamite is rated PG for thematic elements and language. 95 minutes. I highly recommend it!
