Nars Sweet Dreams Lip Gloss By mgrey11 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I am always on the hunt for new lip colors and when hearing great things about the NARS cosmetic line, I just had to give it a try. It is a high end brand, favored my make-up artists, beauty insiders and celebrities. It is found in upscale boutiques, department stores and beauty stores like Nordstrom and Sephora. NARS offers over 30 shades of lip gloss to choose from, all packaged in long, tube shaped containers with a wand applicator. After trying this gloss, I can honestly say it doesn't live up to the hype. Texture is very important to me when finding a great gloss. The product has to be thick enough to have good staying power, but not so thick that it feels heavy on my lips. The texture of this gloss is pretty bad in my opinion. It is VERY thick and super sticky. If I have my mouth closed and then open it to speak, I can actually feel a slight tugging sensation as my lips pull apart. It is very uncomfortable. Usually lip products like this leave a line of gunk on my mouth where the lips rest together. At least that doesn't seem to happen with this. The gloss smells like rubber, and has an awful taste to it too. Why can't this be flavored and scented? Even the cheapest Bonnie Bell glosses you can buy at any drugstore have that going for them.

The color I purchased is called Sweet Dreams. It is a light pinkish-peach shade. When I first applied it, it looked way too frosty. After a little while though, the color seemed to settle down into a nice medium pink with a soft shimmer. Pretty, but not very unique.

For what it is, I find it way overpriced at $24. What on earth was I thinking? You can pick up the same thing with better texture, scent and taste for a lot less money.
