My husband and I initially got an adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) when we bought our house nearly five years ago. Since the adjustment period was approaching, we decided to refinance to a 30-year fixed rate before the rate was adjusted for us. We were still toying with the names of different lenders from whom we could solicit quotes when we got a call from our current mortgage lender, National City. They offered us a rate that is fair and competitive, so we decided to refinance our house with them. Although we expected to have to jump through the usual financial hoops of endless paperwork and fees, we were quite pleasantly surprised! Our contact at National City only needed a copy of our drivers' licenses for proof of identity, and our last 2 paycheck statements. Since all the paperwork pertaining to the house was already in National City's hands, the application went smoothly and quickly. We arranged for a real estate appraisal, and two days later, we had the closing date set!
National City's reps were easily reached whenever my husband and I had questions. Their paperwork was in order quickly and efficiently, and we felt confident knowing that this was a company with which we were already familiar. That alone was comforting in today's mortgage market, where loans are sold and resold, and mortgage lenders are shutting their doors in record numbers.
Our experience with National City continues to be positive, and we would definitely recommend them for new and refinanced mortgages.

I would not recommend NCM to finance a birdhouse. Unless you are willing to monitor your loan activity, escrow account and credit reports, on a regular basis, don't go with them. They failed to pay my escrow bills correctly and posted erroneous information to my account then forwarded to credit reporting agencies.
