Natrapel Plus Insect Repellent

We were looking for a DEET free insect repellent that was safe to use on kids.I found Natrapel Plus at a drugstore, and decided to give it a try.

The bottle we have says that it gives up to 4 hours of protection, and the first 2 active ingredients are citronella oil and geraniol (which is a naturally derived compound).It does not contain any hydrocarbons, making it eco-friendly.

We tried it over the weekend while camping, and it did a great job - no insect bites!This is encouraging because I always seem to be a magnet for mosquitoes.It does smell very strongly of citronella, so if you do not like the odor of citronella, you definitely want to pass on this product!

In general, I like to find more earth-friendly alternatives when possible, and am even willing to pay a bit more.Although I want to use it more before making a final decision, I think that this insect repellent is worth the price, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it on the young ones.
