Mastic gum comes from the Greek island of Chios, the only place in the world that Mastic trees (Pistacia Lentiscus var. Chia) grow.It was natural for me as a Greek to get in touch with this product, and since I always loved gums,I wanted to try it.At first I didn't like it,the taste was a little weird, but I ended up loving it!.Later in my life,I found out about its health benefits.

Mastic is a natural product that comes from mastic trees,it is a natural resin, off white-lemon,semi transparent. It has many uses, like dental tooth paste, medical creams, ulcer medicines,it can be found in paint industry as ingredient for cosmetics, paint varnish and artist colour oil, also,in food industry, for ice creams, liquers, mastic oil,and of course, gum.

It's incredible to chew a gum and get actual health benefits,it can reduce bacterial plaque,it has anti-bacterial properties,it heals pectic ulcers and can be used for curing stomach ulcer and relieving you from stomach aches. Many locals here, use it for treatment against cholesterol and diabetes, but I'm not sure that this has been scientifically proven. In its original form, the resin drops, which are collected when they fall off the tree, look like the pine gum.

Several other companies use mastic to make products, but I think ELMA and especially its gums (my favourite choice is the blue dental pack) are trully the best,I highly recommend these mastic gums to everyone. If you find it,give it a try.
