Reviewing: Nature's Way White Willow Bark Standardized
Purchased at: Lucky Vitamin.Com     Price: $60.00 USD

I deal with daily pain and inflammation due to an injury.

After dealing with several types of prescribed and OTC (over the counter) medications that have several undesired side effects I decided to go natural.

One of the items that I found for the relief of pain and inflammation that I really like is White Willow Bark. I found out about this supplement on one of my all time favorite sites - wholehealthmd.com - which advised me to purchase the Standardized formula for maximum results.

After much research I found that Natures Way Standardized White Willow Bark has the highest percentage of salicin (the active part of the supplement), with a percentage of 15%. I also found that luckyvitamin.com has a great price on this product and I immediately ordered it.

White Willow Bark is the precursor to naturally made aspirin. It is much more potent than aspirin and lasts about twice as long. I found that the White Willow Bark sustains the amount of pain relief, unlike other pain meds that work well at first and then gradually wear off, leaving less and less relief for the duration of the time that it should last.

A downside of White Willow Bark is that it does take longer for the pain relief results to take effect, about double the time as it would for other pain relievers to take effect. However, I find that the length of time of the relief and the sustained level of the relief along with not experiencing any grogginess, lethargy, fogginess or other side effects makes this a good choice for me.

For a more potent relief I add a dose of Boswellia.

I'm going to try this. Willow bark has ample documentation for its use as an anti pyretic and analgesic. Since this is additive free, I much prefer my poisons plain thank you:)

This sounds like something I would use. I hate taking meds that make me feel groggy. Thanks I am going to try this.

I have severe leg pains often, and wonder if this would work for me? Asprin does not work at all.

Hey Webby! What works for my knee pain is Bromelain. I was purchasing the Now version (2400 GDU taken on an empty stomach) but have just purchased an enteric coated version that is supposed to be more effective due to where it digests - I have not used it yet to know. The Bromelain is taken from pineapple stems... For some reason this works great for my knee type of pain while the Willow Bark works great for my back. Also, if you are low in potassium that can exacerbate leg pains. PM me if you want to chat. I have tried a variety of different things so may be able to point you in a direction or two... Also check http://wholehealthmd.com Good luck!

I will have to look into this I have fibromyalgia and degenerate disk disease, I wonder if it would help with my pain, thanks for the information.

I bet that this would help at least with the degenerative disk disease... Do check out http://wholehealthmd.com for both issues to see what they suggest. Since fibromyalgia has to do with inflamation, I wonder if Bromelain might help? Since it is from pineapples it is something that you could take as needed and for long periods of time without effects, unlike other things... Boswellia works really well for my inflamation but it isn't something that should be taken every day over time... Also, do always check with your doctor to ensure that any supplements you take are OK with your prescriptions meds. I am not in the medical field... I just do a really lot of research for my personal needs.
