When my boyfriend and I first moved in together we bought a used GE stove for $75. We used that stove for over 6 years. We recently decided to buy a new stove and, of course, we wanted to stay with GE.
After looking at several different brands and models, we decided that the JBS55DMWW model was the best brand for the money. The features were wonderful. It has a ceramic cook top, alternating baking elements, top elements that stay low enough to melt chocolate without scorching it, and so much more. I was amazed that we could get that many features for only $398.
If you're looking for a ceramic cook top model, this GE model is definitely the best option. The only thing I must warn you against is you must use special cleaners to keep the ceramic cook top clean. Other than that, this GE stove is outstanding.

I've never used a ceramic top before, interesting that it does so well with chocolate. Seems like you got quite a deal!
I have friends with the ceramic cook tops, but I can't decide that I like them. I still like my gas stove.

I like the looks of ceramic cooktops, but am worried that you need evenly weighted flatbottomed cookware to use these. Since I cook using a variety of pans pots and ovenware, this could be a problem.
