Neutrogena Micro Dermabrasion System
By Mamasoup on - Updated Oct 15, 2011I was very unhappy with this product. I followed the directions for 2 weeks. I purchased both the body and the face dermal abrasion kits. My skin was left greasy, even after cleansing then toning. Afterward it was leftred and abraded. I broke out in acne on my lower face on my cheeks and chin and on my back. I normally have very dry skin, and so I was surprised that I would break out so much. I thought that is was just perhaps I wasn't used to the formulation. I stopped using it and my skin went back to normal. One bonus was that my elbows, knees and ankles were a bit smoother, but since I don't have acne prone skin that wasn't enough to make up for the horrible break out.
The cream just didn't seem to wash as well off as I would hope that it would, while the cream was luxurious maybe if they came out with a less comodenic formula I would start using it again.
Update On Apr 01, 2008: I would like to update that I have hypersenstive skin. This would be reason for a rash, but not for acne.

Not something I am going to try, thanks for sharing, Mel!
Sorry to hear you had such a bad reaction to this. Thanks for warning others with sensative skin that this could happen.
I bought this same thing and wasn't very happy with it. I didn't break out but felt like it left my face gritty and greasy. Thanks for the information.
I don't understand these products much, and I can manage to get pimples without spending $34! (that's a joke)
It sounds like this was definitely too harsh for your skin. Being a dry skin type myself, I can attest that skin care products that are over drying can actually make the skin feel greasy and break out. This happens when the skin overcompensates and ups the production of sebum... You need a really good and gentle cleanser and a nice moisturizer to bring your skin back up to its non greasy state. I feel for you!
I have found that almost everytime I use a new product on my face I tend to have a few breakouts, however, these usually clear up within a few days. I also have very sensitive skin, especially on my face so I don't use any type of dermabrasion product except for a simple apricot facial scrub.
I can imagine that this is possible. Sorry this had to happen to you like that. I have heard some better things about this product, so i guess it depends on the sensitivity of your skin. This is an expensive lesson for one to learn though. Hope you find something better!:)
Thanks for the heads up. I also have very sensitive skin and this would obviously not work for me!
I totally feel your pain-here you're expecting a product to work for you & it only made things worse. I'm glad that you were still able to use this on your elbows, knees, etc.
Every one is different. I have one of these and I just love mine. Of course I don't have any skin issues--thank goodness. I'm sorry this didn't work out for you.
