Neverwhere By freesoma on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman, is a wonderful modern fantasy story full of interesting characters and dark, sinister villains. Numerous characters and an interesting world, one that takes place in the London Underground, mix to make a memorable story full of unique flavor.

Although I thought some of the story was a bit cliché, this is a great book that takes fantasy to a different level. It's almost like a twisted Wonderland, with a young English businessman instead of an Alice, full of dark humor and gruesome villains.

I really enjoyed reading this book; it was my first time reading Gaiman's novels. I had previously only read his comic, Sandman, but this book has made me want to pick up Gaiman's other novels. I can't wait to read American Gods next.

Anyone interested in a unique take on magic and fantasy should pick this one up.
