New Franklin Bocce Ball Set By Tina Lehman on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I played bocce ball while visiting my parents a couple years ago, and fell in love with the game.
Before last summer I purchased a set of bocce balls made by Franklin on eBay. It is a four-player model, which includes four pairs of different-colored 90 mm balls and a smaller jack (point) ball. The balls are light, and made of a cheap plastic material. This set was relatively inexpensive, and I found myself wishing I had paid more money because the balls in this set are not very big, nor are they as heavy as I'd like. For me, the game is not as challenging with these lighter balls. But, because they are lighter, it is a nice set if you have children that want to play.
If you are going to invest in a bocce ball set, I would spend more money. Franklin makes sets that are of higher quality than the four-player model. If all you want is a set to play bocce ball with the kids, or to see whether your not you like the sport then this small investment is a good bet for you.

I LOVE bocce ball. I was introduced to it for the first time last year and fell in love with it. I like a heavier set but it is great for the family. I think Geri has a great idea. A light set for the kids and a heavier set for the adults.
This is such a fun summertime game-I love playing it!!
My friends play this and it looks like a lot of fun. Next time I'll have to join in!
I have never heard of the lawn game before. It sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Maybe you can add to your collection and get a heavier set to the adults to play the game and keep the lighter set for the kids. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
i don't think the game would actually work very well with light weight balls. How do the roll well enough on the grass?
I have never played this game, I have watched other play, it seems fun.
I've also never played this game, but it looks fun, sikilar to croquet.
This is a new one on me! Sounds like a fun game.
Never heard of it, but looking for some games to play with now that we have a nice big yard. sounds interesting to learn. thanks for sharing.
