I must say that NHL Hitz 2002 is the best hockey game ever made. It may be a few years old, but the hits are fresh. One major difference with this game is that there are only four players on the ice: three skaters, and one goalie. At fist I was not sure about this change, but after playing one game it made sense. With fewer people it makes the game simpler and more action packed. It is tough for a hockey video game to have a full team on the ice, it just gets too congested.

The best part about this game is it is an exaggerated hockey game. Meaning, the hits will be over the top, and the player may not depict actual hockey moves. This is what makes the game fun. It is awesome when I can hit my opponent through the glass when he is skating down the ice. It is also a great deal of fun to be able to spin through you opponents entire team.

In this game the player can play regular exhibition games, use a pro team and go for the Stanley Cup, or create a team and play for the Midway cup. Creating a team is a great deal of fun. You start with a limited amount of attributes to add to your players, but once you start winning games in your franchise you win points to improve you players. Personally I think this is the best part of the game.
