Nick And Nora Ladie's Sock Monkey Slippers By ferret on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I really liked my retro sock monkey slippers until they began to fall apart. I was a little surprised since I thought Nick and Nora products were of high quality. It's not like I wore them at a boot camp.

I think the sock monkey on these slippers is cute! He has black button eyes and a nice big watermelon mouth. I like that Nick and Nora used brown and beige knitted material to make these slippers look like authentic sock monkeys. I liked the nice soft polyester padded lining inside the main sock monkey area, so my feet didn't itch from the wool fabric.

The heel is a pretty good height at about 1/2" tall. The insole is foam padded, which I found to be comfy. The bottom soles are flexible, which I like much better than a stiff sole with little give. The bottom soles feel like a cloth covered rubber. I liked that better than just plain rubber.

Here is what happened to my slippers: The wool ripped at the toe on one slipper (see photos) and on the other, the wool is splitting where it meets the bottom sole. Each slipper lost a button eye. The remaining eyes are hanging by a thread. The embroidered eyebrows are coming apart and the slippers have stretched out quite a bit. They are ready for the trash.

These slippers are good for about six months before they look shabby, so don't buy them unless you get a good deal.
