Nikon Coolpix P4 Review By sirlgsalot on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

I recently picked up the Nikon Coolpix P4. The current retail price for this 8.1 megapixel camera is around $200, which puts it up against the Canon A760 IS and the Sony Cybershot W55. This camera features a 3.5x optical zoom lens, which is a fairly standard zoom capability for a camera at this pricepoint. It also features optical image stabilization, which senses and compensates for hand vibration. The P4 uses Secure Digital cards, which is currently the least expensive and most widely available type of memory card, for storing images.

Image quality for the P4 is generally very good. The image stabilizer does a very good job of sharpening zoomed-in shots which would otherwise be blurry. The built-in flash can be too strong for some indoor shots, causing them to overexpose. Colors are usually very vivid, and while balence is usually unneccecary.

Overall, I am very happy with this camera, and would reccoment it for anyone looking for a cheap midrange camera.
