The official Gamecube controller is just what it sounds like, the controller that was included with every single Gamecube sold.Nintendo created probably the best-designed controller, overall, of the Gamecube's generation. It is easily the most comfortable of the three systems.

The most unique feature of the Gamecube conroller is its button layout. The analog sticks do not function as buttons, which can be a bit unusual if you're used to the Xbox or PS2 controller. The main action buttons are also laid out in a unique circular pattern, with the focus on the large green A button. This simplified focus, along with the very deep analog triggers, make this controller easy for new players to pick up.

The biggest downside to the Gamecube controller layout is the placement of the Z button just next to the R trigger. This can be very awkward to hit, and was reportedly added at the last minute. The controller's cord also seems to be the shortest of the official controllers. The controller is a good layout, but I would relly recommend the wireless Wavebird unless you absolutely have to have the official controller's vibration.
