Nintendo's Two Screens Of Fun By JayZ on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Nintendo DS, I must admit, I was skeptical at first. Did Nintendo actually expect the right to claim groundbreaking originality by simply slapping an extra screen onto just another rectangular Gameboy? Indeed, they did. And they deserve to too. The second screen actually adds a new level of gameplay; games become far more interactive, far more interesting, and far more fun. I am now able to move my miniature Hyrulian hero by guiding him with my stylus. I can push my puffy, pink vacuum of a puffball by making a road for him to roll on. I can pick Wario's nose with my finger. Alas, not all is perfect with Nintendo's newest handheld. Most disappointing, the game selection is lackluster; with the introduction of the second screen, I was expecting a devastatingly profound change in gameplay. Instead, I was more often flipping through dialogue screens with the stylus. It's true that most games on the DS are fun, but they only remain so for so long. Eventually even Super Mario found its way into a dusty grave under my bed. Still, we can hope that Nintendo will find a better use for the DS and will pump out some truely magnificent games in the near future.
