No More Tripping Over Cords By jb_shops on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My biggest weakness is my biggest frustration in making my home office a comfortable place to work & play. I think I have cords and cables running out of my ears when I walk into this place. I have my desk in the middle of the office so I don't feel totally claustrophobic- or wet myself when someone sneaks up on me from behind.

Unfortunately, the builders and previous owners of the house did not put several electrical floor outlets around my desk so I must get the power from the walls to the middle. {You don't find many basements in Texas so it is not very easy to retrofit.}

My power cords are a trip hazard - learned from experience many times (slow learner I guess). Then I purchased a cable safety strip made using heavy duty vinyl. There are various sizes, lengths, and colors available.

Overall, I would say it has reduced my trip potential. It is easier to slide over the rubber hump than various loose cords, but the hump is too large for my pleasure. Plus it doesn't conceal as well as I would like. This is a good but not great solution for my long-term office satisfaction.

What a great idea for maintaining cords & lessening the trip factor!

This is what I use in my living room to run all the cords running through to operate different things. I have mine laid across the floor and tacked down so it looks like a sort of room divider on my carpet when it is secretly just keeping my jungle of cods from tripping everyone as they walk through the house. The one I use is gray though and blends in almost completely with the fugly gray carpet in th apartment that I rent. Looks like it has belonged there all along.

I think it is a good safety precaution to use this rather than have loose cords and trailing cables.

I can't stand the mess that all of the cords make. I tacked mine to the baseboards going around the room to avoid tripping over them.

I have to agree, I have a ton of cables, anyway to close them up would be a plus!

I think my dining room, with computer and stereo wires everywhere, looks like your office used to. I just don't want to stick something onto my hardwood floors... Great info, thanks!

How handy are these? I could use some of these in a few rooms in my home.

I am a picky product & service snob. Unfortunately my caviar tastes don't match my catfish budget. I am proud......
