Reviewing: Vick's Baby Rub Soothing Ointment
Purchased at: Walgreen's     Price: $3.99 USD

I got this when my son was sick with a cold. You know how miserable babies are when they have a coldyou would do just about anything to make them more comfortable and get better. With smaller babies I know there isnt really too much you can give them as far as cold relief medication goes so I went looking for Vicks Vapor Rub. I didnt like the idea of using the regular strength Vicks rub on my son; he was not quite 6 months old at the time. I was very happy to find that Vicks made a baby version of their rub.

Vicks Baby Rub ointment is a non-medicated formula with gentle ingredients to help sooth baby. It can be used on babies 3 months or older.

INGREDIENTS

Petrolatum, fragrance, aloe extract, eucalyptus oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil

DIRECTIONS

Gently massage on chest, neck and back. Store in a cool dry place; dont forget to put the lid on! And of course keep this product out of reach of children.

Use only as intended.

For external use only.

Avoid contact with eyes.

Do not use directly on face or on broken or damaged skin.

Do not use in the mouth or in the nostrils.

Do not heat in water, a vaporizer, a microwave oven, or on the stove.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Well this is an ointment so its thick and greasy feeling. It is a clear/cloudy color. I just massaged it on to my sons chest and upper back for as long as I could (as long as he would sit still!!) It does seem to leave a slightly greasy coating even after you rub it in. I put a loose fitting shirt on him afterwards.they say to do that! The scent is no where near as strong as the original Vicks which I was grateful for but you can smell the eucalyptus and rosemary. Nothing to strong though. It did not irritate my son's skin at all...no redness, no rash.

I wouldnt say we got HUGE results but it did help a little. His stuffy nose seemed to be helped the most and his little cough did seem to come a little less frequently. ANY relief is good I guess so I was grateful! The only thing I wish that were different is, I wish they made it in a cream! Maybe they do and I just cant find it in my little town! I drove EVERYWHERE looking for it before I decided to just go with this one! I like that the ingredients are simple and gentle. Even though we didnt get tremendous results, I would recommend this product; any relief is helpful when you have a sick baby!

WHERE TO FIND IT & PRICES

I got mine at Walgreens. I paid about $3.99 for a 1.76 oz jar. You can find this just about anywhere thoughWal-Mart, K-mart, Grocery stores, Toys-R-Us, anywhere that carries Vicks products should have it!

It's so hard to be able to know how to help babies when they are really little. But it sounds like this was of some value. Perhaps other people will share experiences too.

Have you ever heard to put it on the soles of the babies feet? I have some of this and I used it on my sons feet. I think it really helped with the congestion. I didn't use it on the chest etc like it says. I was told by some ladies online that it worked best on the feet so that is what I done. Just put their sleeper on them or some socks before bed. Also regular vicks will work for adults on their feet as well I hear.

I used this when my son was younger, like one I am not sure just how much it really helped but I guess a little help is better then nothing.

Never heard of nonmedicated Vick's before, but the ingredients (eucalyptus oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil) would serve to unstop your head and relax you.

there is nothing like the smell of vapor rub. This was a favorite of my father, it brings back memories
