It was followed in 1986 by the sequel "North and South:Book II." Both were panned by critics but adored by viewers. In 1994, a disapointing follow up was released that did not come close to the quality of the previous two installments. Nevertheless, all three adaptions of John Jakes' Civil War trilogy are included in this 5 disc set. Spanning nearly three decades, North and South and it's sequels follow two families, the Hazards from Pennsylvania, and the Mains from South Carolina. Brought together by a friendship started at West Point, the horrors of war will change their lives forever. Will a family be able to endure the conflict that devided so many? This boxed set is well worth the money to find out!

I was only three years old when North and South was on television. I still remember my parents waiting for each new episode with excitement. I have watched the miniseries countless times since then and I will never grow tired of it!
