Not Your Normal Sunglasses.... By Sarahlovesmickey on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My six year old son came to me recently wanting a pair of sunglasses. I figured that we would just go to Walmart or Target and get a cheap pair for him there. After trying on both children's sunglasses AND adult sunglasses, I knew I was going to have to look elsewhere. The problem with my six year old is that he is very tall and his head is quite big for his age, although it is proportionate to his body. The children's sunglasses were all too small and didn't fit right. The adult sunglasses were all too big and didn't fit right.
I began doing some research on the internet and stumbled upon this pair of Julbo Peekaboo sunglasses. At first I was very turned off by them due to their price because they are more money than I would like to pay for a pair of sunglasses that my son will most likely break or lose.
After extensive research, I finally broke down and ordered a pair. They are only available in three colors: black, silver, and red. My son wanted a blue pair, but settled for the silver pair.
When these arrived at my home, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these sunglasses. These sunglasses are designed to fit a 6-9 year old child's face and head. My son's head is probably more like a nine year old's head, so these fit him perfectly!
The areas on the sunglasses that are near the child's temples, are moldable so you can custom fit them to your child's head. The lenses offer 100% UV protection and 90% VLR protection. These sunglasses are also very durable. My son sat on them and they didn't even crack. I realize that the price of these are a little steep, but they are well worth it!
Julbo Peekaboo Sunglasses Purchased at: internet Price: $20

Sarah, they sound great! And being able to sit on them without them breaking is definately a plus when it comes to little boys :0)
OMG, your son sounds like he has the same build as my 6 year old. He is also tall for his age and has a big but well porportioned head. I gave up on trying to find sunglasses for him because kids sizes hurt and adult sizes just fell off. Thank you so much I will have to check these out.
These sound like a winner! Kids won't always keep their sunglasses put away, and a good example of that is when your son sat on his. I think the quality of these glasses are awesome. $20 sounds like alot at first but when you think how they fit him and how many times he will actually wear them, well that's priceless!
I am all for paying $20 for a pair of sunglasses if they are made correctly and have the proper UV protection, which these Julbo Peekaboo sunglasses sound like they do. I think it is ultra cool that they are mold-able at the temples! How cool is that?
UV and VLR protection are so important for anyones eyes, but especially children. I'd rather pay more and know they fit my child and protect him, then buy 6 or 7 useless sunglasses.
