Recently, I was given the opportunity to sample some of what Nutrisystem has to offer. They sent me 3 samples of their products and all I can say is that I am not impressed.

Nutrisystem's entire purpose is supposed to be to help people lose weight, but after reading the nutritional facts on the back of the fudge graham snack bar they sent me, I don't know how that is possible. In each bar, there are 180 calories almost half of which come from fat. 8 grams of fat make up each of these "diet" bars 5 grams of which is saturated fats! It also contains 10 mg of cholesterol of all things. There are 22 grams of carbohydrates 14 of which come from sugars. The first three ingredients listed are Caramel (made of sugar, corn syrup, and fructose), chocolate, and oil. Do these sound like things that should be making up the bulk of the ingredients in a "diet" bar? In comparison a Fiber One bar, which will cost you a lot less, 140 calories (35 from fat), 4 grams of fat (1.5 grams saturated), 0 mg of cholesterol, half the sodium and more fiber.

If the above figures aren't enough to turn you off of the Nutrisystem plan, the snack bar tasted like chocolate covered dirt. It was gritty and gross.

I am glad I tried the promotion because I was seriously considering Nutrisytem as an option, but after reading the nutritional information and tasting the products, I wouldn't waste my money. I can eat healthier on my own and actually eat food that tastes good.
