Nuva Ring: Is It The Right Choice For You By Angie32 on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

Like most women I suffer through the dreaded symptoms of pms each month. As I got older the cramps and mood swings only got worse. My doctor suggested birth control. Well, I hate taking pills so they were not a option. I decided to try the Nuva Ring.

The Nuva Ring is a small transparent ring that is placed into the vagina near the cervix. It can be worn up to three weeks, but it must be replaced monthly. The ring releases estrogen and progesterone slowly into the body. It suppresses ovulation and creates a natural barrier to the body. For me it relieves my symptoms from pms. However, as a bonus it also helped with me with my acne proned skin. The ring also decreases the risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer.

Like most birth control it does have some side effects. These may include increased discharge, inflammation, weight gain, and/or nausea. Speak to your doctor, It may be the right choice for you.
