Oakwood Modular Homes Were Rough By Skydancer2007 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Oakwood Homes provides mobile homes and a selection of modular homes. The Classic 2918 is a modular home provided by Oakwood Homes. After going to several Oakwood Home dealerships, we were finally given the oppotunity to view one of the Classic 2918 modular homes from Oakwood Homes.

Exterior Color Choices for the Classic 2918 Modular Home

The exterior color choices for the Classic 2918 modular home were a minimum. If we were going finance one of these homes, I would've liked to have more of a choice of what exterior colors to have the home. After all, we will be living in it the rest of our lives.

Gutters for the Classic 2918 Modular Home

Big storms or a heavy rain are not uncommon in my area. I was disappointed that the Classic 2918 modular home did not have gutters. I expected that with a modular home, that there would be gutters instead of just a metal drip edge.

Kitchen Features of the Classic 2918 Modular Home

I spend a great deal of time in my kitchen cooking and planning the family meals. The Classic 2918 modular home overall had a nice kitchen. However, I was disappointed in the kitchen sink. It was dual faucet, which I don't like. It was also stainless steel. I've never had much luck with stainless steel. The look and feel of the sink was just not right. Since a great deal of time is spent at a kitchen sink, this was very important to me and was a deciding factor in not getting a Classic 2918 modular home.

Bathroom Features of the Classic 2918 Modular Home

The bathroom features were a disappointment as well. The sink and toilet are china. But then when it came to the tub and shower the Classic 2918 modular home went with fiberglass. For the price a nice china or marble would have been much better.

Remainder Areas of the Classic 2918 modular home

The remaining areas of the Classic 2918 modular home were not significantly impressive to warrant spending the extra money of a modular home. They were pretty much the standard features that you find in many modular homes. The draperies and carpet were good quality but selection of which ones to use was a minimum. I would have to change all these when I bought one of the Classic 2918 modular homes.

I never heard of such a thing. I was shown all models in all price ranges. Granted, it wasn't Oakwood. I find it amusing that people still automatically think that people who live in mobile homes are trashy or something. Guess what? We're not.

That just upsets me that people judged you simply from what you wore & that you are self employed-I hope you & your husband were able to find something even better!

I have often been treated that way from many companies. They seem to think self-employed people are unable to afford anything. That is ridiculous. I hate that they treated you this way. Thanks for sharing your experience and letting us all know to stay away from Oakwood.

Very sad that companies treat people this way.
