Odysseus' Last Stand By freesoma on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Dave Stamboulis writes about his bicycle adventures that took him around the entire world in his excellent book, Odysseus' Last Stand: The Chronicles of a Bicycle Nomad. This book is pretty long for a journal style book but it never does get boring; most of the adventures, troubles, and rewards that Dave has during his touring is so accurately described that it feels like actually traveling to the places that he visits and experiencing the hardships that all travelers face.

Dave's travels took him around the world and I really loved this book because it has always been my dream to travel for an indeterminate amount of time, picking new places to visit as I go. This book has definitely kept my dream alive, but at the same time it has proven how difficult living without a real home can be.

Anyone that is interested in world travel, especially bicycle tourists, should pick this one up and read it. A great book by a very honest and humble man.
