Ohio Amish Berlin Sugarcreek By bubbacat on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Are you fascinated by the Ohio Amish Culture? Do you desire a much needed break from your hectic schedule? Maybe just a weekend away? I do have to say that the Amish area of Berlin is really a nice trip. Sometimes we drive there three times a year. When we approach the area near Dover,Ohio, there is a calm that comes over me. I can't explain it. The Amish culture is interesting to us. Each year we get on the internet and look up lodging for our trip. I do have to say, we know all of the best places to stay. Berlin area has hotels, inns, motels, cabins and bed and breakfasts as well as camping. This could be a family vacation or a couples vacation or even just friends on vacation. There is a flea market located in Walnut Creek, a must see. The market has Amish goods along with everything imaginable.Berlin has quilt shops, crafts and antiques. Sol's Exchange is a wonderful store for the shopper! Don't miss it. There are coffee shops.Shop, shop, shop! You can also travel the area roads and see how the Amish live. Tour an Amish house and eat a meal there. Ride in an Amish buggy. So much to do! Many cabins have jacuzzis, hot tubs, washer/dryer, etc..... Try Fields of Home Cabin with a loft. Make sure to get the cabin with a loft & jacuzzi in the loft. It is the only one that is the best. Waters Edge cabin is great also. It overlooks the lake. Like the cabin on top best! Coblentz cabins across from Waters Edge are nice and are three stories high. Find the right price for you. There are two Carlisle Inns in the area. One has a pool. These inns have restaurants located right next to them. Nice! Loudonville has a castle to stay in-pricey though. Too pricey for me. There is so much to see and explore in the area. If you are close by or travelling to Columbus or another area. Check it out. Pull up the information on the internet. Loudonville has camping and canoeing. Something for everyone. The one feeling I have while visiting the area is complete calm. Seems like you just slow down . I love it. Looking forward to taking the kids to see the llamas, horses, alpaca, and other animals. Ohio Amish area vacation can be a "kick back" or adventure vacation or both!

Gosh, this sounds like Shiipshewana, Indiana. I get the same peaceful calm feeling whenever we go down to the Amish there. Thanks for the tip about this place!!
