Old Fashion Style Girls Sit Among Old Stories By JPnMO on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I found these two little antique looking female figures at Cracker Barrell, one of my favorite shops for unusual and old style items. Originally, they were Christmas ornaments, but I had a different use in mind. I felt they would go well with my old childhood books.

When I first saw these on display, I was immediately taken back in time to when I was a child and the books I used to read, such as "Little Women". They were small, about 5" tall and bendable, and I thought they could sit on top of my childhood books without covering them up. They reminded me of the young girls in some of the stories I use to read.

Each figure is wearing old fashioned dresses with petticoats underneath. Their hair and feet are painted on, but each matches the dress in color. Each dress is different from the other, both in color and style, but each is trimmed in lace and has at least one rose for decoration on the front. They look very reminiscant of a time long ago.

There is a simple string for hanging if I choose to put them on my Christmas tree, but I believe they are just where they belong, among stories that they seem connected to.
