Old Town Cayuga 160 By Ally_DeVille on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The features that come standard on this kayak are great, however I highly recommend getting the optional rudder; it makes all the difference when it comes to steering in rough seas as well as high winds. if you can get the angle right with the rudder, you can even surf a few waves without a lot of hard paddling!

I have the rudder and love it! this kayak is so easy to steer with the rudder, it's certainly stable even in rather bigish swells. The hatches seal well, so no water gets in to ruin or wet your dry gear, I like the built in cup holder, but find it a little hard to use with larger water bottles.

I am not a fan of the seat, I guess I need to work on adjusting it better but so far I have found that I need to get out of the kayak every hour or so to stretch otherwise I get back pain. I have tried using a river seat to help with the padding but it only made it more uncomfortable.

The nice thing about this kayak is it's light, I can lift it myself onto the car rack, but do like having another pair of hands (and back) to carry to the waterfront. At 16 feet it's a but unwieldy to manuer on dry land but a breeze in the water.
