Olympus Evolt E 500 By coopersmom06 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
The Olympus Evolt E-500 is a digital single lens reflex camera. This particular camera combined with the Zuiko 14-45mm lens is a wonderful beginners D-SLR. It's settings range from fully automatic for the novice to fully manual for the more advanced user. It is more compact in design than other brand name cameras and is more cost effective. It has a dust reduction feature that sends a pulse to shake off dust from the insides. The physical layout of this camera is good and conforms to the hand nicely, even larger hands. This camera is good but there are a few issues. Physically, the plastic/rubber piece that covers the connection for your USB cable feels flimsy and the cover for the flash hotshoe seems to always slip out of place. The shutter sound can be quite annoying and there is no way that I have found to turn it off. There is a white balance issue which can be cleared up through updating firmware. In conclusion, though it has a couple flaws, they are easily overlooked thanks to the excellent quality of the photos taken with this camera.
