One drop - 2 tests ?
By Chris Kong onTested this first ever hand held glucose and cholesterol meter. It performs individual test for glucose and cholesterol test . The glucose test just take 12 seconds but the cholesterol takes a bit longer - 3 minutes . It works on 3 AAA batteries which are easily available . Easy to use -prick fingers, collect blood apply blood to strips and finally read results. It comes with one year warranty.
Cons: It would be better if they have one drop , two tests as the name of the meter suggested -meaning to say that it shows glucose and cholesterol readings simultaneously with one strip only. The strips are very expensive - 50 strips for glucose test costs RM 150 and 25 cholesterol strips costs RM 240 . To perform the test you need to use separate strips for separate tests which is quite an inconvenience.

I was just told my cholestorol is high and had no idea there was a meter to test it at home. I have no idea what form of currency you figures were in vs. what it would be in American dollars but if you say they are expensive I will go with that. I will have to see what products are out there so I can do it myself and save the $30.00 copay for a doctors visit.
it sounds like this could be an expensive tool to use on a regular basis.
I didn't know there was a way to test cholesterol at home. Bummer that it uses so many strips.
Good information on an important product. It would be nice to have one, but I agree it would be better if your only needed one strip.
To be able to test cholesterol at home is such a convenience that I bet if the advertised this more honestly people would be really happy! I found this conversion for the currency. US$ 1 = RM 3.80 (Malaysian Ringgit )
I too, did not know that you could test cholesteral at home. I monitor mine by going every 3 months to my local hospital. The charge is 20.00 for the whole breakdown of LDL, HDL, and triglycride levels. So I wonder how this machine, plus the cost of testing strips would break down moneywise?
I had no idea you could test your cholesteral at home. It does sound like an inconvenience to use two different test stripes for the cholesteral and glucose. That might add up the cost
The less blood you have to shed to get results, the better.
I was unaware that cholesterol could be tested at home. That is just so cool!
I wonder if insurance would cover the cost in certain cases if this were prescribed? That would be a huge help.
