One Exceptional River Fishing Boat
By cnt24 onWe live near a lake and river. My husband and I both love to fish. After cruising around on friends boats and fishing from the banks, we decided it was time to purchase a fishing boat. We chose the Alumacraft 14 ft flat bottom fishing boat.
This was an easy decision as we had tested a friends identical model. The boat is perfect for two but can hold up to 3 persons or 525 lbs. There is plenty of room to have a cooler, any little items needed, and tackle and gear.
The best thing about the Alumacraft is it's aluminum, so rust should not be an issue. The quality of craftsmanship shows in the uni-body hull, welds, and rivets. You know the Alumacraft will last long after you are gone, save you don't sink it or put holes in it.
Since this boat is so light, launching it is easy.It can be easily launched by one person if necessary. This Alumacraft can also be carried to the water by two people if there is not a boat ramp available.
We opted to buy our boat new and customize it ourselves. We have added a motor plus troll, seating, and rod holders. All of this was easily done without harming the hull.
Since we purchased our Alumacraft 14 ft flat bottom fishing boat we have spent many hours on the water. Trolling has been the best method for us when it comes to catching fish. The Alumacraft seems to cut into the water without disturbing unsuspecting fish. We troll our lure by and they grab it.
We have set trot and limb lines from the Alumacraft also. The flat bottom gives the boat stability. We can move around to tie lines without worrying about capsizing.
The only issue I have with the boat is standing in it. My husband stands fine, but there is limited room if you have a lot of gear. When I try to stand I feel like the boat may tip--that's just me though.
If you are looking for a good river boat, I highly recommend the Alumacraft brand.
(I was asked to rate propulsion and maximum speed. The Alumacraft model we purchased was sold as a hull only.We purchased a 15 hp motor separately, which pushes this boat extremely well. The manufacturer recommends a 10 hp motor.)

What a great little boat. It sounds like fun, I would need something with room for 4 though.
Great detail, and personal experience too. I'd much rather have a boat like this than a speedboat. I live on the Missouri, but don't do much boating on it. My family owns a lake cabin on the northern border of our state, and that's where I do most of the water-stuff, like boating, fishing, or just lying on the dock... Thanks for the info on this boat!
Looks like it would make for a fun day of fishing.
You're going to have so much fun this summer fishing on your boat!
This sounds like a great little boat for fishing excursions. Thanks for sharing your experience with it!
An aluminium boat for fishing?Hmm!That is a good idea.
I bet you are going to have a great summer fishing on your new boat. There is just something about fishing off a boat that makes it more fun! Enjoy.
This sounds like a great fishing boat. Love the fact it will not rust. Excellent job!
My husband and I would love to have a boat. This might be an option for us since it is a great price.
