One Toy A Lot Of Learning! By MaggieM on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

When my son turned one I got him Fisher-Price's Baby's First Blocks. He is turning two soon and he still loves playing with this toy! His cousin is turning one and I knew this would be a perfect gift to give!

This toy comes with a bucket with carrying handle, a detachable lid that acts as a shape sorter and ten blocks. The blocks are different shapes and colors. There are two green squares, two blue circles, two orange stars, two red triangles and two purple crosses.

The age rating on this toy is 6 months and up. You can start with baby learning how to put the blocks into the bucket then dump them out. As baby gets older you can work on the shape sorting. My son loves this, he still claps after he puts the correct block into the correct shape. Once baby starts recognizing words you can teach them the shape names and colors. It is amazing how quickly they catch on to this! This is why I love this toy, it is such a great skill builder.

I have a daughter in preschool and it is fun to watch her teach her baby brother what the shapes are, what color they are and where they go. It is definitly a toy that will last a long time!
