Oral B Satin Floss By Lorianna By Lorianna on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Oral-B was the first brand of dental floss I had used, and it was good, so I keep going back to it and trying different new varieties. I heard that Satin Floss by Oral-B was unusually smooth and gentle. Sometimes my gums bleed when I floss, so I decided to check it out and see whether it would be softer than regular ones.

The floss is thin yet very strong. It never breaks or shreds (shredding did happen occasionally with another Oral-B floss I had used), and it does seem to slide around the teeth easier, even in the tight spots. The floss has a pleasant mint flavor, not very strong. It is reasonable priced, too - around $4 depending on where you buy. I saw it on sale in several places online. That's the good points. As to the not-so-good ones, while this floss is gentler than regular, I would say that regular waxed ones remove plaque better. I don't know, maybe it's just the matter of habit, but my teeth do not feel as clean as they do after a waxed floss.Bottom line: Satin Floss is a good product to try, especially if you have tight teeth or and/or sensitive gums, but I wouldn't completely switch over to it. Perhaps alternating it with regular floss would work best.

I have a lot of trouble with the floss shredding too.
