Orange County Speedway - Rougemont NC

Orange County Speedway is located in Rougemont North Carolina.It is the areas local short track.Local drivers are able to get their racing careers started here.There are a few Nascar drivers that have actually raced at this track before moving to Nascar.Two are those drivers are Jeff Burton and Scott Riggs. When I was little my parents would take me to Orange County Speedway on Saturday nights.When I became a parent I took my oldest son to the race track.A few years back the track was closed.I am not exactly sure why it closed but it was closed for several years.Last year it was reopened.There were several renovations done to the race track before it reopened.New metal bleachers were added, the bathrooms were remodeled and the track's sound system was upgraded.I have been able to make it to only two races since the track reopened.Each time I went there was low attendance.I don't know if it is because the races were held during the day on Saturdays or because the track is not as popular as it was before.I hope that the attendance improves so the track wiill not close again.
