Orbi Safecut Can Opener
By uaezarb onI needed a new can opener and decided to try this new style of can opener that I found, called the Orbi Safecut Can Opener.
What makes this different is that instead of cutting the lid off the can, it actually breaks the bead on the can allowing the lid to be lifted off without leaving sharp edges.Lifting the top off also means that you don't have a lid that falls into the food, which could cause the food to be contaminated. The cutter never touches the food, so that leaves the blade clean, unlike my old can opener that always seemed to accumulate food on the blade.
This opener has an ergonomic design so it is very comfortable to use.It works very similar to any other can opener, you just turn the knob a quarter turn clockwise to open the cutting wheel and then place the cutting wheel on top of the can, turn the knob until the cutting wheel has went all around the can and then turn the knob a quarter turn counter clockwise to release the opener and lift the lid off.
The one thing I had to remember to get used to, was turning the knob a quarter turn before I started, otherwise it will not work properly.

These sound handy...a good can opener is hard to find!
I do have to say I love most goodcook products
I'll be looking for this product. It looks like a great idea!
I haven't seen this one before. My electric can opener is trying to give me problems. I need something like this to have on hand. Thanks for sharing.
This looks lighter and far more comfortable for arthritic hands to use than other models. I'm going to get this one.
Thanks for the sharing the experience and information about the product .Good job!!
